The movie is based on Stephen King's novella of the same name and follows Wilfred James, a farmer who confesses to killing his wife in 1922. Looking at Will's life through a flashback, the movie explores his life as a farmer in Nebraska, 1922. He lives with his wife and their 14-year-old son, but things seem to go wrong when he conspires to kill his wife for financial gain, becoming more complex when he convinces their son to help.
