Throughout My Life With the Walter Boys[]
Cole's friend, Dylan, spread a rumor about Alex crying after seeing Cole and Paige together. Alex believed that the rumor was spread by Cole, causing the two brothers to fight.[3]
Personality[]
Alex is quiet, reliable and bookish. He usually reads in his free time.
Alex loves his brothers, but has felt inferior to Cole his entire life, which causes fights between them. He perceives himself as a nerd who dates a girl out of his league and his fear of losing her makes him a very insecure person. He spends most of his time doing things he enjoys: riding horses, hanging out with his friends and siblings, playing video games, reading, or attending city events. He is a very attentive person. Cole describes him as the perfect son who makes mom and dad proud.
Physical appearance[]
Alex has dark brown shaggy hair and hazel eyes, he has about a medium build and looks to be on the shorter side.
Relationships[]
Jackie Howard[]
From the moment Alex layed eyes on Jackie, he felt an instant attraction to her. He was one of the first out of the boys to be sweet and welcoming to her. Throughout the season Alex tries to find any excuse to be around Jackie in hopes that she will return his attraction. It was until Thanksgiving where they finally shared their first kiss and thus began their relationship. Their relationship hit a few bumps with Alex failing to tell Jackie about the Paige situation along with his rivalry with Cole getting in the way. Alex noticed Jackie and Cole growing closer and couldn't help but feel jealous towards their growing connection, which in turn caused him to lash out at Cole and put some strain on his relationship with Jackie. In Happily Ever After, Alex finally confessed his love for her while he is drunk at his older brother Will Walter's wedding but it was clear she didn't return his affections, further straining their relationship. The fate of their relationship is left unknown at the end of the series as Jackie ran off to New York with no explanation to Alex.
Cole Walter (older brother)[]
Alex and Cole have always had a strained relationship and this is due to the fact of their rivalry towards each other, mainly involving girls. According to Grace; Cole and Alex have fought over everything but most of their fights usually involves girls. After Cole came back from therapy over the summer, he went to a party and ended up making out with Alex's then girlfriend Paige. Alex saw this and ran off as Alex felt Cole betrayed him. Come to find out later in the series , Cole never knew of him and Paige and would've never done it had he known. Alex has always felt insecure to Cole and Cole has always felt inferior to Alex as he described him as the perfect child, Alex feels like he can't compete with the Cole Effect. Their relationship gets further strained with the arrival of Jackie as both boys develop an immediate attraction to her upon first glance. Alex picks up on Cole's obvious infatuation with Jackie and does whatever he can to prevent Jackie from falling for him and sabotaging Cole's reputation any chance he had. Alex's insecurity towards Cole comes out in ways where he tries to make himself look better than Cole in the eyes of Jackie and those around them. At the bonfire Cole tells Alex, they will eventually come to me anyway (referring to Jackie) causing Alex to punch him. The next day at school a rumor is spread around about Alex and Cole, causing both boys to engage in an altercation with each other, further straining their relationship. Towards the end of the season, the boys have obvious lingering tension between them but end up coming to a peace talk and finally get an understanding of one another. In the finale, the morning after Alex confesses his love to Jackie at Will's wedding. Alex finds the repaired teapot and a note in Jackie's room saying "I'm sorry" with no sign of Jackie, he heads to Cole's room assuming Cole did something to make her leave. He is obviously angry and asks "What did you do"? and Cole just looks at him with confusion. The fate of their relationship is left unknown by the end of the series.
Kiley(Bestfriend)[]
Alex and Kiley have been best friends since kindergarten, Kiley and Alex are usually seen either gaming together or playing medieval based board games. Kiley is always there to bring Alex back to reality and is never afraid to tell him how she is feeling, especially when he was obsessing about Jackie not talking to him. Kiley didn't hesitate to tell Alex to stop obsessing and to make a gesture for Jackie to show he liked her. When Alex told Kiley about going away for summer camp in Montana, he told her he had to talk to Jackie about it and Kiley told Alex he should do what he wanted. Kiley and Alex can be seen joking around from time to time and it is pretty clear that Kiley has a major crush on him but Alex doesn't seem to return her feelings. In Happily Ever After, after Kiley saw Alex drunk, she went to talk to him and he asked her "Why Jackie didn't say I love you back"? Kiley simply told him she didn't know before taking the champagne bottle away from him and walking him to his room, they shared a brief moment until Alex shut her down by saying "Kiley, you're like a dude". He passed out and she leaves him alone, clearly hurt by him friend zoning her. The fate of their relationship is left unknown by the end of Season 1.
Nathan Walter (roommate/younger brother)[]
Nathan is Alex's younger brother and they share a room together. We don't see these two interacting to much but assuming they are pretty close based off the fact that they share a room together and in the first episode they are shown eating lunch together. Alex and Nathan have a strong relationship, they value each other's opinions and enjoy each other's company.
Danny Walter (older brother)[]
Danny is Alex's older brother and there is not a lot of interaction between these two either. They both respect each other and have a pretty layed back sibling relationship. On one occasion during Will's wedding, Danny is seen telling Alex to take it easy with the drinking, and giving him props for making things right with Cole.
