Biography[]
Amanda, an advertising executive in New York City, is in dire need of a vacation from the people and things that fill her hectic schedule. She decides to take her husband, Clay, and two children, Archie and Rose, on a spontaneous weekend family getaway to a stunning Long Island home, but her idyllic escape is soon marred when the owner, G.H. Scott, and his daughter, Ruth Scott, show up in the middle of the night to seek cover during a blackout. Amanda wants G.H. and Ruth to leave, but Clay is more welcoming of them.
Even though she occasionally comes across as conceited and narrow-minded, Amanda is a tough lady who knows when to set aside her stubbornness in order to defend her family.
