Countess Charlotte von Stubenberg is a character on The Empress. She is portrayed by Runa Greiner.
Biography[]
Charlotte is a Court Mistress at the Schönbrunn Palace.
Throughout The Empress[]
Season 1[]
In the palace, Charlotte is seen in a line of handmaidens, listening to the instructions of Countess Esterházy regarding preparation for the royal wedding.
When Countess Esterházy introduced Charlotte to Elisabeth, she told Elisabeth that Charlotte is an exquisite harpist. Charlotte was very excited to meet Elisabeth.
During the day, Charlotte and the other Court Mistresses followed Elisabeth around. The Court Mistress discuss how there are 10 of them, but only 6 are needed, so some of them will eventually be cut off.[1]
During a ball, Charlotte and the other Court Mistresses chatted with Archduke Maximilian.[2]
At the hunting trip in Auhof, Elisabeth wanted to hunt with the men, but was not allowed to. Instead, she took a walk with the Court Mistresses, and they met Franz's father, Archduke Franz Karl. He claimed to know Leontine von Apafi's family. However, when asked to speak French, like Leontine was known to be able to do, she could not. The other Court Mistresses, especially Amalia, began to suspect Leontine.[3]
Charlotte had a one-night stand with Archduke Maximilian. The next morning, Charlotte commented that the ring on Maximilian's hand looked like it was made for a lady. Charlotte asked where the lady was, to which Maximilian retorted that she was dead. Charlotte immediately became apologetic and Maximilian asked her to leave.[4]
Leontine learned from Charlotte that Amalia had been sharing photos of the Apafi family. Leontine chased down Amalia and after an argument, pushed Amalia down over the railings of the second floor to the ground, in an attempt to kill her. Charlotte witnessed this.[5]

Charlotte is talkative and gets excited easily. She is bubbly and very interested in the lives of others.
