Ellis Dragon is a character in the series Unstable. He is portrayed by Rob Lowe.
Biography[]
Ellis is a brilliant biotech scientist, who has a biotechnology company named Dragon. He has lost focus following his wife's death.
His son Jackson Dragon previously stayed out of the family business, as he gets annoyed by Ellis' judgmental ways and struggles with living in his father's shadow. However, he steps in to help get Ellis on track when Ellis' eccentricity threatens to sink his transformative new invention.
During his emotional spiral, the CFO, Anna Bennet, keeps the business going. The board of Dragon appoints a mental health professional, Leslie Clevenger to help him cope with his wife's death. Ellis develops a new product while trying to prove that he is mentally stable.

- Ellis is portrayed by Rob Lowe - the father of John Owen Lowe, the actor who portrays Ellis' son Jackson Dragon.
- John Owen's real life trolling of his father Rob on social media inspired Ellis' occupation and relationship with Jackson. Rob tells Tudum, "It's not just a son making fun of a dad. It's a very specific type of son making fun of a very specific type of dad. And what we realized was that the dad had to be a known figure, has to be generally liked in the world, which really frustrates the son when he sees the dad acting like a buffoon. I didn't want to play an actor. I didn't want to play a president. But you gotta play somebody who's out there in the world. Right now, there's nothing more current than a tech billionaire."[1]
