Jackson Dragon is a character in the series Unstable. He is portrayed by John Owen Lowe.
Biography[]
Jackson is Ellis Dragon's sensible son and accomplished flautist. He lives in New York City and teaches the flute. He previously stayed out of the family business, as he gets annoyed by his father judgmental ways. Jackson is more grounded and introverted than his father, and struggles with living in his father's shadow.
After Jackson's mother's death, he returns home to pull his father out of his emotional spiral and also tries to emotionally recover himself.
Jackson's long-time friend, Malcolm Drummond, is promoted project manager of the experimental Red Lab after a stint as Ellis Dragon's assistant. Malcolm is Ellis' biggest fan, which causes some friction between him and Jackson.

- Jackson is portrayed by John Owen Lowe - the son of Rob Lowe, the actor who portrays Jackson's father Ellis Dragon.
- John Owen's real life trolling of his father Rob on social media inspired Ellis' occupation and relationship with Jackson. Rob tells Tudum, "It's not just a son making fun of a dad. It's a very specific type of son making fun of a very specific type of dad. And what we realized was that the dad had to be a known figure, has to be generally liked in the world, which really frustrates the son when he sees the dad acting like a buffoon. I didn't want to play an actor. I didn't want to play a president. But you gotta play somebody who's out there in the world. Right now, there's nothing more current than a tech billionaire."[1]
- In real life, John Owen plays the piano. Co-creator Victor Fresco thought it would be funnier if Jackson was a flautist. He tells Tudum, "We though the flute was having a resurgence, perhaps due to Lizzo. And it's a funny kind of instrument. It's hard to look cool playing the flute. Lizzo does it, but there's not many other people who can do it, I don't think. I certainly can't."[1]
- Jackson studied tissue regeneration while getting his engineering degree at Cornell and worked on an artificial toe.[2]
- In 2005, when Jackson was 10 years old, he, his mother and Elliot went on a vacation in Bali. His mother sang him the Mr Sandman song to help him sleep.
- Jackson previously wanted to be a wildlife photographer, but found it difficult to find animals.[3]
- Jackson has brumotactillophobia, a fear of letting his foods touch.
- Jackson dislikes walnuts because they look like brains.[3]
