Jonathan is a character in the German psychological thriller miniseries Dear Child, who is portrayed by Sammy Schrein.
Biography[]
Jonathan is an 8-year-old boy who grew up in captivity alongside his older half-sister Hannah. His mother, Lena Beck, was kidnapped 13 years ago. At the time, Lena was pregnant with Hannah, who was fathered by Lena's ex-boyfriend, Florian.
While in captivity, Jonathan was raised by Lena and the captor, who Jonathan referred to as Papa. After Lena gave birth to her third child, Sara, both Lena and Sara died from child bed fever, as their captor refused to get a doctor. The captor subsequently kidnapped another woman, who was forced to assume the identity of Lena and raise Hannah and Jonathan. Each time "Lena" died, the captor would kidnap another woman to take her place.
While in captivity, Hannah and Jonathan were forced to abide by strict rules. Every time their captor entered their bedroom, they had to show both sides of their hands.
The final woman to be kidnapped and forced to live as Lena was Jasmin Grass.

While escaping from captivity, Jasmin and Hannah were in a hit-and-run accident.
Police later rescued Jonathan from captivity.
Hannah and Jonathan were brought to a children's mental hospital.
