Nica Dover is a character in the Italian teen romantic drama movie The Tearsmith, who is portrayed by Caterina Ferioli.
Biography[]
After Nica's parents died in a car accident, she was sent to a strict and sombre orphanage called Sunnycreek, nicknamed the Grave. The orphanage is run by a strict headmistress named Margaret Stoker. Nica learned many tales there, including the legend of the Tearsmith. The story tells of a world where everyone was void of emotion and incapable of crying. They sought out the Tearsmith, a shadowy figure who'd give them his tears. The Tearsmith brought out all the darkest feelings trapped in their hearts, which destroyed the world. According to Nica, she, too, would eventually become a part of this tale.
At 17, Nica is adopted by the Milligans, a sweet and understanding couple. Miss Margaret warns Nica that the adoption is only a trial, and could be revoked. To Nica's dismay, her nemesis, Rigel Wilde, has also been adopted into the same family. Rigel, a mysterious and moody teen, was very cruel to Nica at the orphanage. He was the golden child, adored by Miss Margaret. He was the only orphan who she didn't mistreat. The prospect of having to live with Rigel again completely dashed Nica's hopes of a better life. However, as they come together to face the horrors they've suffered, they fall in love.
