Throughout The Sea Beast[]
The Brickleback is the first sea monster to appear in the movie. When it attacked Jim Nicklebones' ship, The Inevitable came to its assistance, so the Brickleback attacked The Inevitable as well. During the attack, the Brickleback hauled Jacob Holland into the water and tried to eat him. However, Captain Crow leapt at the Brickleback, sinking a spear into his heart, causing the Brickleback to lose consciousness.

The Brickleback is a large, green and arthropod-like sea monster with tentacles and large jaws. It also has a crocodile-like snout.

Trivia[]
- Character designer Shiyoon Kim said he was inspired by crocodiles and other animals with tentacles, such as octopuses. He also incorporated the shell of a crocodile.[1]
- According to production designer Matthias Lechner, director Chris Williams was very insistent that we cannot connect emotionally to the Brickleback.[1]
- The Brickleback's design is very similar to the Octofin Dragon from DreamWorks Dragons: The Nine Realms, both portraying a crocodile-like body and possessing tentacles.
