The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance is an American fantasy and adventure web series created by Jeffrey Addiss and Will Matthews for Netflix and is a prequel to the 1982 film, The Dark Crystal. The series was released onto Netflix August 30, 2019.

When three Gelfling uncover the horrific truth behind the power of the Skeksis, an adventure unfolds as the fires of rebellion are lit, and an epic battle for the planet begins."

The series follows the inhabitants of Thra — a fictional planet orbited by three suns — as they finally realise that the creatures in power, the Skesis, have been draining the life force of their planet ever since they rose to power. Three young gelfling, Rian, Brea and Deet, start a revolution to end Skesis power on Thra, but it is not without sacrifice and loss.
The history of Thra and the characters within is also revealed throughout the series, including the wacky Mother Aughra, who abandoned the planet in hopes of searching the universe.
